Day 15: A day to feel a bit married…

October 16, 2011

The reason why there was no post yesterday – October 15, 2011.

The No-food-no-water day of the year was here.. And for a change, I felt and looked married. 😛 I enjoyed it thoroughly, trust me! Wearing the mangalsutra, lots of bangles, sari etc etc.. The day has its charm!

Therefore, a little glimpse of why I could not post yesterday! 😉

KC it is!

Day 14: A Promise. A Commitment.. – Part 2

October 16, 2011

Ashi’s little cousin came running into the room. “Jiju is here! Jiju is here!” There was suddenly a flurry of activities and Ashi was surrounded by a lot of women who pulled her towards the altar, gave a million instructions at the same time and made her sit coyly on a stool. Ashi stole glances towards the entrance hoping to get a glimpse of Ramit. But there was a sea of Kanjeevaram sillk saris that blocked her view!

Ramit had finally arrived at the venue. The walk from the car to the altar was all a haze. He was surrounded by a lot of his aunts who were giving instructions all at the same time. He was taken to the entrance of the venue where Ashi’s parents greeted him. He was then teased by the young cousins of Ashi.. which, although slightly embarrassing, Ramit enjoyed much! It was then that his eyes fell on Ashi, sitting at the altar. Ramit smiled at the sight of her. Very typically, Ashi was pretty uncomfortable at being the center of attention. He knew she was dying to get out of that sari and wear her ragged jeans and t-shirt. And yet, Ashi was a vision of beauty. The kohl-lined eyes, the minimal jewelery and the slight smile made her eyes sparkle. Ramit could not wait to get married to her!

Ramit and Ashi got engaged amidst much fanfare. Today Ramit has penned down his vows. He wants to frame his Promise to Ashi, and give it to her as their wedding gift.

I promise. I promise to keep that smile of yours always intact. I promise to make you laugh. I promise to take you for holidays because I know you want to backpack around the world. I promise to be a patient muse when you experiment with your DSLR. I promise to maintain the sparkle in your eyes. If ever I see your eyes clouding over… I will get my act together. I promise to accept your past and look forward to having a future with you. I promise to never let you down. I promise to love your stubborn nature. I also promise to let you show me the way when I am lost on the roads of Bangalore. I promise to always call you ‘beautiful’ even when you are in your rags, coz well, you are beautiful even in your rags! I make this commitment with my whole heart that everything I do in my life, every decision I make, every step I take.. will be towards making you the happiest woman in this world!

Day 13: A promise. A Commitment.. – Part 1

October 13, 2011

A Promise. A promise to keep. A promise to keep for eternity.

Ashi has had butterflies in her stomach for months now. She has conjured up scenarios of this very day, since she was an 8-year old girl. She had meticulously planned for months leading up to this day. The color ‘Blue‘ was chosen after much pondering and Ashi knew that she looked and felt her best, in Blue. She was always the ‘rebel’. Going against the traditional Red (also read: loud) and wearing minimal jewelery was her way to tell the many nagging aunts, “This is my life. And this is my day.

Ok! Enough of mulling over things of irrelevance. Must get ready quickly“, Ashi pulled herself to get ready.

Ashi did not exactly have a very smooth life. Her previous 2 relationships went from crazy to abusive. After running away from men and mostly herself for more than 8 years, Ashi was finally ready to take the plunge at 30. Yes, she was fabulously 30. Thick black hair, smooth dusky skin and deep black eyes .. she was gorgeous. It was almost 1pm and she had to start getting ready for the evening.

Ashi met Ramit at a common friend’s party. They both reached out for the last piece of the gooey chocolate cake at the same time and ended up chatting the entire night over the last piece of chocolate cake. Ramit was the ideal man. He had a good job, was articulate and was kind of a gentleman. But the best thing about him? His husky laugh and his amazing sense of humor. He cracked her up! Within a month, they knew they wanted to be together. They got their parents in one room and set the date.

Ashi was wearing her ear studs when her phone rang. It was Ramit. “He just can’t wait, can he?“, Ashi thought to herself.

Hey Ramit..

Ashi? Hey love! Are you ready? I am on my way!

Ha ha… you couldn’t wait, could you?

Noways! Can’t wait to put that gorgeous ring on your finger and have you for myself. But damn these 15 days till marriage! Why would our parents be so unjust?

Oh God Ramit! You are unbelievable… Ok I got to go. I have to get ready and these aunts of mine are chewing my brain with all their giggles.. Love you. See you soon, to-be-hubby!

She hung up on him, smiled to herself, glanced one last time at herself in the mirror and with a satisfactory nod, walked out of the room.

The stage was set. The pandit was waiting. The smell of fresh flowers engulfed the room. Everywhere she looked there were relatives, half of them, she did not even know names of. She looked for her mother and told her that Ramit was on his way with his family…..

Her family went into a tizzy. Everyone screamed out last minute instructions. People ran everywhere. The chaos! Ashi sat on a lonely chair in the corner of the room watching. She smiled to herself. The day was finally here. She is going to get engaged.. and then married! She just could not wait for Ramit to arrive.

(to be contd. in tomorrow’s post….)

Day 11: A Picture says a thousand words!

October 11, 2011

Writer’s blog! Yes.. it has hit me again. Or maybe it is just fatigue and fried-brain syndrome.. I don’t know.. But today is not a good day to write a mindbogglingly awesome post! So I will make it a photo blog..

I am not a photographer. I do not own a million lenses and I do not know the difference between an f2 or f2.8. I have not taken any lessons and I cannot give photography gyan to anyone. But what I love to do is to ‘Compose‘. In my opinion, photography is when you can say what you want to say with your pictures without tech-complicating it. Photography comes to you when you feel it from the heart and visualize it the way you see it or want others to see it. The technicalities and processing will flow in once you get the above right. And strictly, that is my opinion.

I have been click-happy for over a year now. We bought a basic Nikon D5000 and added an additional Zoom lens. With that I have gone around places clicking things that attract me.. people that interest me… and scenes that catch my fancy. I am usually the one who will stand in one place clicking a particular scene over and over again till I get the shot I can..well.. live with! 🙂

So my favorite kind of shots are close-ups.. real crisp close-ups of people, animals, birds or things. I think it captures their expressions.. feelings.. aspects and every detail of their personality! So below are a few of my favorite pictures.. from the collection.

Intensity

Threatening

Perseverance

Indulgence

Thinker

Will Fly!

Budding Beauties

Innocence

There are many more in the kitty.. will continue to put more photo blogs!
